Weather Concerns

Pine Tree Camps is well prepared for any weather, including South Florida’s heat, storms and humidity.

Water break older boysWe vary activities so campers are indoors, outdoors and in the water.

Sunscreen should be applied before camp and reapplied during the day.  If parents send a note on the first day of camp, counselors will reapply the sunscreen to preschool campers.

Stormy weather - Lynn University campus has a system for detecting and warning about lightning in the area, so there is time to get inside safely.  If this alarm sounds, all groups participating in an outside activity are moved inside. Each group is assigned a room so they will always have a place to go and play games. We also set up large group activities such as bingo, Simon Says and movies if the bad weather is prolonged.

We make sure campers are well-hydrated with water stations and water fountains located throughout the campus. Each camper over 6-years-old is provided with 1 Pine Tree Camp water bottle each summer. We find that preschoolers, ages 3 – 5, have trouble carrying and keeping track of water bottles, so water fountains are located near their outdoor activities and cups are provided to them at other locations.

Campers are welcome to bring their own water bottle, if preferred.
